Welcome to Northfield Tough!
Hello and welcome to Northfield Tough, a new non-profit in Northfield, VT that's on a mission to empower and support the youth of Northfield to Do Tough Things through programming, events and mentorship. Through this work, we hope to build and grow the physical, mental and emotional strength and resiliency of Northfield's (and beyond!) next generation of leaders.
Over the coming months, we will be building out programming, events and mentorship opportunities. Northfield's youth will be able to participate in events and programming that will encourage and challenge them to do tough things. At the same time, we will be building out a support and mentoring network so our community's youth can propose and share their own tough things they would like to do, and request support from Northfield Tough to help them achieve their goals.
Why this matters?
There is a youth mental health crisis gripping the nation. Vermont is not immune. Our community's youth have also explicitly asked us for things to do locally in our community at Our Common Future meeting in the Spring of 2023. We hope to bridge the gap between the two by offering programming and events that engage our local youth, providing an opportunity for them to form community, connection and camaraderie in these shared pursuits. In doing tough things, we hope to develop the mental and emotional strength and resilience in our youth that will last them a lifetime.
